What exactly is Google Tag Manager and why do I need it?
Google Tag Manager is a free tool from Google that sits between your website and every analytics or advertising platform you use. Instead of hard-coding Google Analytics, Google Ads, Meta Pixel, and other tracking scripts directly into your site, you install one GTM container, then manage every tag through GTM's interface. The benefits: cleaner code, faster page loads, no developer needed for tracking changes, and a single place to verify every event before it goes live. For any business spending money on ads or relying on conversion data, GTM is the foundation that makes everything else work properly.
How long does the full GTM setup take?
Most setups complete within five to seven working days from the moment I receive access. The first day is audit and planning. Days two to four are the container build and event wiring. Day five is QA, verification, and handover documentation. Larger e-commerce or multi-domain projects can extend to ten days. I always agree the delivery date with you in writing before starting.
Do I already need to have Google Analytics 4 set up?
No. If you have GA4 already, I audit it and clean up whatever is broken. If you do not, I create a fresh property as part of the engagement at no extra charge. Same for Google Tag Manager itself — if you do not have a container yet, I create one. The pricing covers either scenario.
Will GTM slow down my website?
A properly configured GTM container has minimal impact on page load — usually under 50 milliseconds because Google Tag Manager loads asynchronously. The bigger risk is the opposite: sites that hard-code many tracking scripts directly into the theme can become significantly slower than the same site managed through GTM. Part of my setup includes auditing existing tracking scripts and removing duplicates that may currently be hurting performance.
Can you track WhatsApp button clicks as Google Ads conversions?
Yes — this is one of the most common reasons businesses hire me. Most websites have a wa.me button that produces leads, but those clicks never become conversions in Google Ads. I wire the click as a GTM event, push it into GA4 as a key event, then import it into Google Ads as a conversion action. After setup, smart bidding can optimise specifically for WhatsApp leads — which is usually the highest-value action on a service business site.
Do I need to give you full admin access to my accounts?
No, and I never request it. I ask for editor access to Google Tag Manager, edit-level access to your GA4 property, and standard access to your Google Ads account. You stay the owner. You can revoke any of these at any time from your own dashboard. For WordPress sites, I usually request a temporary editor login that you can disable on the day setup goes live.
What happens if I want changes after delivery?
Professional and Advanced plans include post-launch support windows (14 and 30 days respectively) where minor adjustments, additional events, and bug fixes are covered at no extra cost. After the support window closes, ongoing changes are quoted on a small per-task basis — usually £30 to £80 depending on complexity. Most clients never come back because the documentation lets them make small changes themselves.
Is GTM setup a one-time job or an ongoing service?
For most businesses it is genuinely one-time. Once the container is built, verified, and documented, it runs for years without intervention. The exceptions are: launching a new website, adding a new lead channel (like Meta Ads or LinkedIn Ads), or moving to server-side GTM. In those cases clients return for a small add-on engagement rather than a monthly retainer. How does communication work between UK and Bangladesh?
